Spooked Horse Swims Two Miles Offshore

Animals Unique | Spooked Horse Swims Two Miles Offshore | An Arabian show horse named William was rescued this past week after he got spooked and ran into the open ocean, swimming two miles out to sea. The 7-year-old horse bolted from a beach photo shoot near Santa Barbara, California and plunged into the ocean, launching a rescue effort Searchers That included helicopter.

A Different Kind of Seahorse

Poor William was drenched finally spotted two miles from the shore, swimming toward oil rigs. William reportedly managed to keep his head above water even with a saddle strapped to his back for three hours. Ultimately, rescuers attached a hook to the horse's reins and pulled him into a boat. He was subsequently Examined by a Veterinarian and released back to his owner. No injuries were reported.

That William's owner reports he was spooked by the ocean waves crashing on shore during a beachside photo shoot and swam nearly two miles out to sea.
